Is your computer too slow? Do you turn it on and then wait 15 minutes to go to work? Let us eliminate that first coffee-break of the day. Your computer is slow for one of several reasons.
Age: It might just be a slow computer. It was fast when you bought it, but Windows has gotten slower with time due to all the software updates. In 2001 when Windows XP was new, it needed 256 MB of RAM to run well. Now, after 10 years of software updates, it needs a minimum of 1024 MB of RAM. That means Windows XP itself has grown 4 times larger and slower. It’s possible you might need an upgrade.
Junk: It might be full of junk. The trick is knowing which “junk” will slow down the machine. Most people just delete all the photos and are then disappointed that the computer didn’t speed up. That’s because photos don’t slow down your computer. However, we can often clean up a lot of real junk and speed up the computer.
Hardware problems: If you hard drive is crashing, the computer will get really slow. If this has started suddenly without a major software update, be suspicious of a hard drive crash.
Virus: A virus will slow your machine down as criminals use it for their own use.
Let us evaluate your machine and recommend a course of action. Computers are too cheap these days to waste time waiting on them.
