Data Recovery

harddiskgray.jpgIf your important files have been lost or destroyed, we can help. We perform many data recoveries in our lab, which offers quick turn-around and very reasonable fees. For issues beyond our in-house capabilities, we coordinate the recovery with other dedicated recovery labs such as Ontrack DataRecovery.

Warning: If your hard drive makes unusual noises such as clicking, grinding or metal scraping, turn off your computer immediately! This typically indicates a head crash that can destroy your data. Hard drives spin at high speed, between 3,600 to 15,000 revolutions per minute and severe damage can occur in a short period of time.

Service Description
Our diagnostic evaluation fee is $180 during regular business hours.  Additional charges may apply for expedited service or after hours / weekend support. After we evaluate your drive, the project normally falls into one of several scenarios:

  1. The recovery is simple and was performed during the diagnostic period. No additional charge is required for these cases, and the data is returned to the customer on the original hard drive.
  2. The recovery is possible in-house, but the drive is failing and must be replaced. The data recovery quote is based on our hourly rate of $90 per hour and the estimated time to recover and copy the data to new media. We can provide the data on CD, DVD-ROM, or external hard drives.
  3. The recovery is judged to be possible, but beyond our in-house capabilities. In these cases we will coordinate your recovery with our outside partners, who will further evaluate the drive and deliver a quote.
  4. The recovery is judged to be impossible. In these cases we will waive our diagnostic evaluation fee.

If you believe data has been lost or files deleted from a virus infection, malicious action or a hardware failure, the most important action you can take is to turn the computer off. The longer it stays running, the less chance we have of recovering anything useful.
